Beth Hart, a Los Angeles native who is a blues-styled vocalist and street performer who was formerly. In 1995 she made her public debut with Immortal. Her outspoken style and enthralling musicianship garnered attention, as well as her emotion-filled live performances and voice that was likened to Janis Joplin. Chuck Taylor, Billboard's October 2nd, 1999 issue declared that Hart is "the epitome of natural woman" and that she is "bawdy and hilarious, jovial, with her use of spiced languages, free-wheeling and free-wheeling." But that's nothing to her stage presence. The tall, lanky singer/songwriter strides and screams songs in a band with Mick Jagger . At other times, she's seated at an area at the piano or centerstage, where her legs are placed over chairs, and her voice so delicate and painful, it's difficult to tell if she's about to cry or if you'll. Hart had similar reactions to the moment she took to the stage in amateur contests as an teen. However, Hart had doubts about the business of music as it became an instant success. Eventually, touring the world over proved detrimental to the band, and Hart dropped out of sight for nearly four years, time that was spent contemplating her feelings and tackling issues that came up while writing music. The year 1999 saw Hart came back to her professional work with the critically acclaimed Screamin' for My Supper. The album saw Hart's songwriting abilities expand with vulnerable and honest songs about coping with the difficulties of life.
